For those who remember, 1999 was marked by cynicism since most of the globe was uncertain about Y2K, which was just around the corner.
The KelTec team toiled assiduously on the Gen I version of the KelTec Sub2000 as clocks, Blackberries, and PCs switched from 1999 to 2000.
The Sub 2000 would receive the “2000” designation and would be formally released the following year.
The Sub 2000 would deviate from conventional designs, having lines and features not typically found on firearms from this era, and certainly not at this price point, thus it makes sense.
